Vintage Glasgow snaps capture city's Christmas celebrations from years gone by

There's something extra festive and charming about a black and white Christmas scene, and we've been raking through the archives to find some crackers taken here in Glasgow.

From Christmas lights hanging on the streets, to piles of snow on the vintage cars (they weren't vintage at the time) - we've found some lovely snaps. If you weren't in the festive mood already, these are sure to help.

Among the gallery is a shot of shoppers filling Argyle Street back in 1972, the crammed street showing a very different scene than today with everyone moving to internet shopping and next day deliveries.

Elsewhere in the pictures we see last minute bidding at The Barras in 1972 on Christmas Eve, something that's become a tradition of the past. Many of the images capture the Christmas lights of the city from days gone by, sparkling in all their black and white glory.

Check out the full gallery below for a walk down memory lane.
