Vintage flea market to be held in the Workman's Club this weekend

By Brian Dillon

The Useless Project have announced the return of their in-person events with a vintage flea market happening in The Workman's Club on Saturday, September 18th.

Taking place from 11am until 5pm, the day-long event aims to champion the sustainable fashion movement and the community behind it. The market will see a variety of vendors selling mainly fashion items including vintage and handmade bits as well as androgynous, menswear and plus sized fashion pieces.

Sustainable fashion enthusiasts heading along can also expect drinks provided by Absolute Vodka as well as "good tunes and the best vibes".

The Useless Project originally rose to prominence as Sustainable Fashion Dublin, when Taz Kelleher and Geraldine Carton teamed up for charity shop crawls, clothes swaps and more sustainability-themed events.

Speaking about the return of such events, Taz explained, "I can honestly hardly believe we are running an actual real life event again. It's been a long long 18 months and as much as we loved running events virtually over the various lockdowns, nothing compares to the energy and good vibes of one of our in-person events. Our flea market at the Workman's Club is our favourite event, hands down."

"Picture a plethora of vintage goodies, homemade gems and second-hand bargains at your fingertips accompanied by good vibes and a few tipples. This event will be 100% COVID compliant and we cannot wait to open the doors on Saturday morning," Taz said.

To be fully Covid compliant, the event will have limited numbers compared to some of their previous events. Although no pre-booking is necessary, organisers The Useless Project are asking that anyone attending wears a mask and has the HSE Covid tracker app downloaded onto their phone.

To give everyone a fair chance to browse and purchase items, your time at the market will be limited to 45 minutes.
