JAIPUR: Vidarbha consolidated their position in the Vinoo Mankad U-19 One-Day Trophy with a thrilling 3-run win at the Jamia Millia Islamia ground in New Delhi on Tuesday.
In a tense Group B league outing, Rajasthan suffered their second narrow defeat in their third match against in-form Vidarbha.
Chasing a challenging target of 234, Rajasthan fell short by a whisker as they were restricted to 230 for 8 in 50 overs. Opener Sachin Sharma (57) and Toshit Bhatia (43) kept their team in contention with a fruitful 66-run partnership for the fourth wicket. However, both departed within a span of just a couple of overs which revived Vidarbha's hopes.
Parth Yadav, who remained unbeaten on 46 and all-rounder Naved Khan (26) tried hard, but Vidarbha bowlers and fielders lived up to the expectations to clinch a nail-biting win.
Aditya Titirmare and Sarthak Dhabadgaonkar claimed a couple of wickets each, while Yash Titare and Sanskar Chavate chipped in with a wicket apiece.
