Vinnie Jones vows to donate Celebrity X Factor money to hospitals that treated late wife Tanya

Vinnie Jones has vowed to donate the money he makes from Celebrity X Factor to hospitals that treated his late wife Tanya.

The footballer turned actor, 54, took to Twitter on Tuesday to make the promise, saying he was "ready to rock n roll" in the competition.

He became a late entry into the ITV singing competition when Simon Cowell called him during Saturday's episode to invite him to take part in the live shows.

And it seems he'll be using the show to pay the ultimate tribute to his wife, who tragically died from cancer just before filming started.

Vinnie tweeted: "I've decided any proceeds of a record contract from X-factor will go to Harefield hospital and Cedars Sinai.

"NOW I'm ready to Rock n Roll."

In the most recent episode X Factor host Dermot O'Leary announced Vinnie wouldn't be at the auditions for "personal reasons".

But just moments before it went off air, Simon asked him if he'd still be willing to take part.

He said: "We’d love you to be on the live shows this year, we’d welcome you and give you all the help you need."

Vinnie said he'd "be honoured" to take part because his wife wanted him to.

Simon also asked him how he and his kids were getting on.

Vinnie said: "My daughter is fantastic, she’s been strong, it’s really brought us closer together.

"We are just getting through it, you just learn to carry the grief really Simon.

"Well Tan’s pushed me really Simon, we knew it was all going on, and I put it to the family and Tan was very excited about it."

Tanya died at the age of 53 at her Los Angeles home on Saturday July 6 after a long battle with cancer.
