Vinnie Jones in tears on Good Morning Britain as he reveals a heartbreaking letter left by his wife Tanya

Vinnie Jones wept as he recalled the touching moment his beloved wife Tanya had left him a letter telling him not to grieve.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain on Monday, October 14, the former footballer-turned-actor, spoke in heart wrenching detail about how his wife told him "Don't grieve I'll be waiting for you."

Tanya, in her favourite navy Ralph Lauren pyjamas, was surrounded by Vinnie and five family members, including her daughter Kaley, 32, when she passed away in July at the age of 53 after being diagnosed with three forms of cancer.

Vinnie said: "I had a letter from Tanya saying I've got to remain strong. 'Don't grieve, I'll be waiting for you' and I believe that, I've got something to look forward to.

"If you turn a negative into a positive and she's waiting. I think it's the best way to do it. My daughter's been strong, that letter has made my daughter strong, she's now leading and taking up the reigns.

"I got a card saying everything beautiful will happen and she said, ‘everyday something beautiful would happen’.”

The former Wales international went on to recall the action he took when he was told his wife didn't have long left.

He said: "As much as I was a bugger she felt safe with me. Until that final meeting in that room.

"I said one thing is important. She’s not gong in no hospice. Kaley and I will look after her.

"I didn’t want her frightened. I said I didn’t want her to know and I didn’t want her to be in any pain."

Vinnie, who is also due to take part in The X-Factor Celebrity, revealed how he tries to keep himself busy and tried to offer advice for any men who may be going through a similar devastating time.

He added: "Keeping busy I think that’s the first thing, you’ve gotta get it out there for other guys that are struggling.

“I didn’t even see that coming but whenever you think you’ve got a problem there’s always some bigger problems.

“I get up at 5.30am and I’m straight at it and I crash through the day.”
