Vinnie Jones 'expected to pull out of Celebrity X Factor' after wife's tragic death

Footballer turned film star Vinnie Jones is expected to pull out of the upcoming Celebrity X Factor this autumn following the death of his wife Tanya.

Tanya died at the age of 53 at her Los Angeles home on Saturday after a long battle with cancer.

A well-placed source told Mirror Online: "Vinnie was expected to appear on the show but that's likely to change now as filming is due to start in LA in two days time.

"It's been known for a while that he was going to take part but given the circumstances that probably won't happen.

"Everyone is devastated for him and his family."

Back in 2013, Vinnie revealed that both he and Tanya were suffering from melanoma, the most serious type of skin cancer.

Tanya, who had undergone an emergency heart transplant at the age of 21, had already been treated for cervical cancer twice.

Vinnie found a lump under his eye and a check-up revealed he had malignant melanoma.

Tanya then developed the same illness and they fought it together.

The two wed in Watford in 1994 and then moved to Los Angels when Vinnie decided to pursue a career in acting.

Vinnie earned his reputation as a hardman through his footballing career. He was in a group of players dubbed 'the Crazy Gang' during his time at Wimbledon.

Vinnie's spokesperson told The Sun: "Tanya passed peacefully at the Jones family home surrounded by Vinnie, their daughter and other family members.

"Vinnie and the family ask for privacy while they go through an understandable period of mourning during this devastating time."

In recent weeks it was widely reported that the Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels star would be among the stars belting out a few tunes on the reality show.

The line-up is also rumoured to include a few Love Islanders from the 2018 cast including Wed Nelson, Zara McDermott , Samira Mighty and Eyal Booker.

US talk show host Ricki Lake is also expected to take part and the TV legend and will no doubt get the audience hollering her name.

Her singing credentials are strong after making her name as the lead role, Tracy Turnblad, in the 1988 film Hairspray.

Also on the rumoured line-up is Gemma Collins, who recently appeared on Dancing On Ice.
