Vincent Poirier finding post-bubble baby travel a novel challenge

With the playoffs over for the Boston Celtics, a return to quotidian life has arrived for the team’s players, and for at least some of them, it’s proving a ruder awakening than they had expected.

Specifically, we’re talking about Celtics big man and new parent Vincent Poirier, who, with his partner, recently had their first child together while the team was still in the Disney restart bubble at Lake Buena Vista, Florida.

Poirier left and re-entered the so-called bubble to be present for the birth, then sat through the mandatory four-day quarantine period required of any player who left the NBA campus with league permission.

But one thing he did not have to do as part of that process?

Travel with a new baby.

Posting on Twitter Thursday afternoon, the French center owned up to not being prepared for the challenges of transporting a tiny human safely and securely.

He also praised the veterans at that particular game, giving respect to established parents who do this sort of thing on the regular.

“Okay I respect all the parents travelling with their kids,” tweeted the Celtics center. “I wasn’t ready”.

If he thinks cracking a contending NBA rotation is tough, just wait until the terrible twos!
