Former captain Vincent Kompany has revealed that if he was the man in charge at Man City then he would do everything in his power to keep Pep Guardiola at the club.
There has been plenty of speculation surrounding Guardiola's future at City with links repeatedly touting him with a move to Juventus or a return to Barcelona.
Guardiola has always denied the rumours and has repeatedly said he is happy in Manchester, but the fact he has never managed a club for more than four seasons only fuels the reports.
Guardiola is now into his fourth campaign at City and it hasn't gone to plan so far with their worst league start since he arrived at the Etihad.
However, after unprecedented success while playing incredible football, Kompany wants his former boss to stay and has labeled him 'the best' at what he does.
"If I was in a deciding position at City now I would do everything I can to keep Pep for as long as I can," the Belgian told Sky Sports.
"He is truly the best and to say anyone would come near it is even speculating in a ludicrous way a little bit."
Kompany left City in the summer after 10 glorious years to rejoin hometown club Anderlecht as player-manager, but the centre-back has explained that his role is more complex than that.
"I think only about one thing at the moment, I need to be successful in my own new journey," he added.
"I don't think it's understood very well I'm not necessarily the manager in the way that you expect it to be in England, my role is a little more wider and broader than this.
"It is to set a vision a plan and to follow and commit to that plan."
