Vincent Kompany reveals the change he expects from Pep Guardiola against Liverpool

Vincent Kompany is a figure who has been missed at the Etihad Stadium, both on and off the field this season.

The talismanic defender left the club after 11 illustrious years in the summer as he took up a player manager role with Anderlecht.

Man City have looked short at the back due to injuries at times this term and they are currently six points behind Liverpool.

The two sides now meet at Anfield as Pep Guardiola's team aim to cut the gap but he is expected to be without several key players including first-choice goalkeeper Ederson.

Kompany is expecting a tough challenge for his former side against Jurgen Klopp's unbeaten team.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Kompany explained: "I don’t quite know really because the course of last season, there was the game at Anfield which we more cautious and nearly had a win, then the game at the Etihad which was all or nothing really.

"I’m a little bit undecided as to what approach Pep will chose to go for today.

"You just have to look at the history at Anfield, for us it has been a very difficult away game. Knowing Pep, everything he’ll be speaking about, from experience, is to win the game but maybe we’ll be a little bit more cautious in the tactics.

"Last season wasn’t an exceptional performance from the team but we nearly got the win with the penalty, so I don’t see why he would change it in the first half from how we played last season."
