Vincent Kompany makes huge claim about Man City after FA Cup final whitewash

Vincent Kompany said Manchester City are the best team in the world after they hit Watford for six to become the first English side in history to complete a domestic treble.

The Blues' 6-0 win at Wembley equalled the biggest ever margin of victory in an FA Cup final as Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva all got on the scoresheet.

Kompany's contract at City is up in the summer but he chose to focus on the team's success when pressed on his personal situation at the club at full-time.

"It's the best team in the world for me, you know," Kompany, who has been at City since 2008, told BBC One. "To set such high standards for such a long period of time. What a team. What a privilege."

On the manner of City's win against Watford, Kompany said: "As soon as we scored the two goals, the second half they had to come and press, it opened up the game for us and made it so much easier to create chances.

"It wasn't as easy as the score says it but what a season. What a club."

Pressed on how City's players remain so thirsty for success, Kompany responded: "It starts with the manager, we set the standard at the beginning of the season. We said we had to go again, go back to back, then it's the group, it's a positive group. Young players and talented and of course you need quality and that's why we did it."
