Vincent Kompany kept Manchester City’s title hopes alive with a mesmerizing goal

Manchester City went into Monday’s Premier League match with Leicester City trailing Liverpool by two points in the standings. City needed a win to remain in the driver’s seat on Championship Sunday.

With the match scoreless into the 70th minute, Vincent Kompany put his stamp on the title race with perhaps the biggest Manchester City goal since Sergio Aguero’s epic winner in 2012.

Kompany saw window to goal from outside the box and went for it. He unloaded a blistering strike from 30 yards right into the top corner of the net.

It was the perfect shot that sent Manchester City back into first place.

This was just Liverpool’s luck. It had been six years since Kompany had a shot on target from outside the penalty area. He chose quite the time to break that streak.

The wonderstrike was so ridiculous that Aguero was telling him not to shoot in the lead-up to the shot.

It was a “No, No, YES!” goal if we’ve ever seen one.
