Vincent Kompany and Raheem Sterling are back in Manchester City’s squad for Tuesday’s game at Newcastle United following injuries.
Kompany has not played since suffering a knee problem in the goalless draw with Dynamo Kyiv on 15 March, having to be substituted in the Champions League second leg after seven minutes.
Sterling’s groin injury occurred during the opening half of the 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on 20 March.
Both players will hope to contribute to City’s bid to finish in the top four and win the Champions League. Manuel Pellegrini’s side face Real Madrid in the semi-finals.
Pellegrini said: “Sterling and Kompany are both in the squad. Vincent will be an important help for the defence. It’s been a very important season and we have to keep fighting. Sterling is coming back and we’ll see if he can play some minutes tomorrow.
“Sagna, also Clichy [are both back], Silva [ankle] and Nasri are out. Nasri – it’s a small muscle injury, it’s not too important, we’ll see how many days he’s out for.”
Saturday’s emphatic 3-0 victory at Chelsea featured the seventh hat-trick of Sergio Agüero’s City career. “I’m happy for Kun that he is scoring, he’s playing often, he’s not had injuries in the second half of season,” Pellegrini said.
“Newcastle are very dangerous, they have good players, St James’ Park is difficult and they need all the points to not get relegated. We must continue the way we played on Saturday, solid, keeping a clean sheet and scoring goals.”
