Vincent Janssen has thanked the fans for their support after his long-awaited returned to the Tottenham Hotspur team.
The Dutchman has looked to be heading out of the exit door at Spurs on numerous occasions but nothing has materialised.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino told football.london back in January that it was 'impossible' for Janssen to be part of his plans ever again and he clearly never expected that three months later he'd be calling over the striker to step on to the pitch to help him win a match against Brighton.
Janssen's name wasn't even among the squad list on the back of the club's own matchday programme with no number nine between Harry Winks and Harry Kane.
It was a big moment though for the 24-year-old Netherlands international, who has also had to deal with injury problems over the past year. His arrival on the pitch with 11 minutes to go earned a great ovation from the crowd as he replaced Lucas Moura.
Spurs ended up winning the game with a late Christian Eriksen strike.
On Wednesday, Janssen posted a message to the fans on his Instagram account saying: "So happy to be back, thanks to all the fans for the amazing support! #nevergiveup #coys"
Although he is not registered in the club's Champions League squad, Janssen may get further opportunities in the remaining three Premier League matches if Tottenham's injury struggles continue.
