Vincent Janssen closing in on Tottenham Hotspur exit with medical booked on Monday

Vincent Janssen is set to leave Tottenham Hotspur in the coming days to make the switch to Mexican side Monterrey.

The 25-year-old's career has slumped since his £17m signing from AZ Alkmaar in 2016 as he struggled to impress manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Janssen was loaned out to Turkish side Fenerbahce, where he appeared to settle down before picking up a foot injury which fragmented his time there.

That injury required surgery last summer which ended hopes of another move for the Netherlands international and then the club failed to move him on in the winter window.

Pochettino, who had previously told football.london that it was 'impossible' for Janssen to return to his squad, then decided to bring the Dutchman back into the fold rather than have him train with the development squad and he made a couple of appearances from the bench late last season.

Now with just a year left on his original contract, Janssen will have a medical on Monday in Europe according to reports in Mexico and football.london understands his move to Liga MX side Monterrey should be finalised in the coming days.

Janssen is one of a number of players left out of the club's summer tour squad to focus on finding other clubs.

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and Danny Rose are both in the same situation, while Marcus Edwards is currently training with Championship side Brentford as he attempts to earn a move there and Josh Onomah is also believed to be looking for a move.
