Arsenal have put forward the idea of a new supporters advisory board to promote "meaningful consultation" with fans, football.london understands.
The proposal comes as supporters are set to gather again to protest against the club's owners Stan and Josh Kroenke when they return to the Emirates Stadium for the game against Brighton on Sunday.
Relations between KSE and Gunners fans are perhaps at an all-time low after the American's decision to sign the club up to the European Super League without any prior consultation.
And now in an attempt to seek to improve things, a new set-up was suggested at the Arsenal Fans' Forum which took place on Friday afternoon and was attended by Josh Kroenke and the club's chief executive, Vinai Venkatesham.
The proposal is for a new advisory board to be set up in an attempt to create better dialogue between the Arsenal board and fans.
The advisory board would be made up of a member from the Arsenal Supporters' Trust (AST), the Arsenal Independent Supporters' Association, a member from one of the club's world supporter groups, a former male player and a former female player, football.london understands.
The role of this group would be purely advisory, however, and all final decisions regarding the club will still be taken autonomously by the Gunners' board which consists of Stan and Josh Kroenke, the club's non-executive director Tim Lewis, and Lord Harris of Peckham.
When asked about the possibility of fan representation on the board, Kroenke and Venkatesham stated that it was something they would think about but failed to offer any firm commitment to the idea.
The idea of adding an fans trustee to the Arsenal foundation was also discussed in the meeting.
The proposal is said to be different from the steps taken by Chelsea and Liverpool in recent weeks to increase their respective boards' consultation with supporters.
When asked about any similarities between Arsenal's proposals and those of their fellow 'big six' sides, Venkatesham said: "We are not looking at different clubs. We do things the other way."
KSE are under perhaps more scrutiny than ever after the European Super League fiasco.
When asked if the ESL could happen again it was stated in the meeting that "no one would be stupid enough" to bring back such a proposal, while both Venkatesham and Kroenke stated that anyone who tried to do such a thing would "need their heads checked."
Kroenke specifically also promised to commit to attending at least one of the fans' forum meetings per year in a bid to improve relations.
However, it is unlikely to have had the desired effect.
football.london understands that that several of the Arsenal supporter groups feel Josh Kroenke's "offer" at Friday's fans' forum was "nowhere near" what they expected and "doesn't come close" to other clubs.
Protests are still expected to go ahead before, during and after Sunday's game against Brighton despite the proposals.
