Vin Diesel shares behind the scenes video as he films Fast & Furious 9 in Edinburgh

Vin Diesel has delighted fans of the Fast & Furious franchise with a special behind the scenes video.

The American actor is currently filming the ninth installment of the street racing franchise, which has grossed more than £4 billion since it began.

Filming is taking place in Edinburgh, and Vin's particular scene today took place on the busy Royal Mile streets in the Old Town.

In the video, police cars shoot past, while a black car flies into the shot and screeches to a halt.

Camera operators run towards the car and film Vin getting out and looking around.

The director shouts "cut!" and the camera operators back away.

The camera then zooms in on Vin, who starts chatting about the film.

"Yeah so" he says.

"This is 'Fast 9'. And it's a miracle".

"I'm as blessed today as I was the day we started.

"We're here in Edinburgh, Scotland, one of many many many locations.

"The crowd has been great. Look at that crowd over there".

The camera then pans to the huge cheering crowd who had come to watch the film being shot.

It then turns back to Vin, who raises nine fingers and says "'Fast 9'. Blessed".

Also starring in the film are John Cena, Michelle Rodriguez, Charlize Theron, Helen Mirren, and Nathalie Emmanuel.

Edinburgh Live reported that several residents of the city had been spotting exciting signs of the film.

Locals have been posting photographs of what they suspect are expensive super cars used in the film, hidden under tarpaulin.

Others have witnessed stunt actors filming feats including jumping out of a third-floor window and off a bridge.

Fast & Furious 9 is due to be theatrically released in 2020.

The films have been marred by tragedy several times.

At one point, filming of Fast & Furious 9 was abandoned after Vin's stunt double obtained serious head injuries and was airlifted to hospital.

Vin was said to be "tearful" and in "total shock" after Joe Watts plunged 30 feet off a balcony and was put into an induced coma.

He has since been moved from intensive care and is now in a stable condition, though he remains in hospital.

Actor Paul Walker was killed in 2013 in a car accident which was not linked to the film itself.
