Villarreal missing two key players for Manchester United game

Villarreal will be without striker Gerard Moreno and midfield Francis Coquelin for the Champions League clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Former Arsenal man Coquelin is suspended for the crucial group stage fixture while Moreno is absent with injury.

The latter is a boost for United, with Moreno scoring Villarreal's goal in the Europa League final in Gdansk in May before also converting his penalty in the dramatic 11-10 shootout victory.

The 29-year-old, who 30 goals in 46 games for the Yellow Submarine last season, has been nursing a hamstring injury recently and Unai Emery confirmed in his pre-match press conference that he would be absent for the trip to United.

In Moreno's absence former Borussia Dortmund striker Paco Alcacer is likely to lead the line for a Villarreal side who have drawn seven of their eight games so far this season.

“We also have (Francis) Coquelin who is out for suspension, but it is the same as the other day,” Emery said in his pre-match press conference.

“We have different alternatives and we have to trust the options we have.”

Villarreal will also be without longer-term injury absentees Samu Chukwueze and Dani Raba.
