Junior guard Jalen Brunson of Final Four-bound Villanova received yet another honor Tuesday, being named a first-team All-America by the Associated Press.
The 6-foot-2{ Brunson received the most first-place votes, 63, from the same 65-member committee that votes for the weekly AP top 25. Winner of several national player of the year awards and on the list of finalists for others, he leads the Wildcats in scoring (19.2 points per game) and assists (4.6 per game).
"It's an honor but it's because of our team's success," Brunson said Tuesday. "The only thing that matters to me is that we're winning."
"It's really incredible, the honors he's been awarded and that he's nominated for," Villanova coach Jay Wright said. "It's great that he got another (All-America recognition) today."
Villanova junior swingman Mikal Bridges was honored on the AP third team. He averages 17.8 points and 5.4 rebounds and has knocked down a team-high 99 three-point baskets.
