Villanelle's pink dress from Killing Eve to go on show in behind-the-scenes exhibition at BAFTA

BAFTA is set to open its doors to the public for the first time with a free exhibition including Villanelle’s famous pink dress from Killing Eve.

BAFTA: Behind the Screens will launch at the Piccadilly headquarters on September 16 – opened by BAFTA’s president the Duke of Cambridge – with clothes from the BBC drama among pieces on show. It will open to the public on September 17.

The exhibition aims to show what it takes to create award-winning work for the screen, delving into the people who write, shoot and shape our favourite series and films.

There will be annotated scripts, audio-visual displays, hand-crafted models and costumes, which will be regularly updated over the next two years.

Exhibits will include insights into the hair and make-up design from The Favourite, starring Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz, the score for Interstellar and Chiwetel Ejiofor’s research and preparation for playing Solomon in 12 Years A Slave.

BAFTA chief executive Amanda Berry said: “Behind every BAFTA-nominated film, game or television programme are immense creativity and incredible technical skills, delivered by literally hundreds of people who are passionate about their craft.

“Our ever-changing exhibition will shine a light on these nominees and their personal journeys, inspiring visitors to BAFTA Piccadilly as well as the next generation of talent that BAFTA nurtures, develops and supports year-round.”
