Fuming villagers want to slam the brakes on Jeremy Clarkson’s farm shop because the Top Gear star’s fans clog up the roads.
They also claim the area has become a mecca for petrolheads who speed down the country lanes.
Jeremy’s Diddly Squat Farm Shop – which featured in Amazon Prime hit, Clarkson’s Farm – is doing a roaring trade in quiet Chadlington, Oxfordshire.
But one parish councillor has called for it to be “closed down immediately”.
In a letter to the district council, Hilary Moore wrote: "Our roads are clogged with traffic and the whole area is becoming a danger zone with fast cars showing off their speed on narrow lanes, traffic queuing for a miles or so, blocking roads and compromising access for emergency vehicles.
“The farm shop should be closed down immediately and no more permission granted to further developments."
The councillor voiced her concerns in a letter to West Oxfordshire District Council, which deals with planning issues.
Locals voiced their concerns after Jeremy submitted papers to revamp part of the farm shop, which opened in 2020.
They fear the Who Wants To Be a Millionaire host harbours plans to eventually open a 150-seat cafe and serve booze to customers.
Parish council clerk Gill Hill said members were “concerned regarding the effect of the incremental development at this location”.
She told planning bosses: “The number of cars currently visiting the site is already substantial, often filling the existing parking space and overflowing onto the Chipping Norton Road, which... creates a significant risk that accidents will occur.”
Police were called last week when the star put in a personal appearance and hundreds of fans flocked to the village, causing chaos on the roads.
Jeremy later tweeted a grovelling apology and said: “People of Chadlington. I’m truly sorry about the traffic around our farm shop last weekend. We are doing everything we can to improve the situation.”
The television presenter, who bought his farm in 2008 with partner Lisa Hogan, 51, once described parish councillors as “made entirely
from a blend of skin and hate”.
Clarkson’s Farm follows his trials and tribulations on the 312-acre farm.
Speaking at the show’s launch, he said: “I went to a Daylesford farm shop and it was £143 for a piece of cheese, so I thought why don’t I start a farm shop.
“It is doing really well - it’s packed on the weekend and local farmers selling in our farm shop is better for carbon footprint.”
