Village Underground launches socially distanced pop-up bar

Village Underground has launched a new socially distanced pop-up bar with DJs providing the soundtrack.

The Shoreditch music venue, which hasn’t hosted a gig since lockdown began in March, will run the temporary drinking space four nights a week, from Thursday to Sunday. The DJ line-up set to be announced on social media in the lead-up to each weekend.

Tables for up to six people will be available for walk-ups and advance bookings. All customers will have to wear face coverings while entering the venue, as well when moving from their table to the toilet or smoking area. Staff will wear PPE and there will be multiple hand sanitiser stations around the venue.

Village Underground Bar is the latest venture aimed at securing the venue’s long-term future in the midst of the Covid-19 crisis. It is running a crowdfunding campaign in conjunction with its sister venue, EartH in Dalston. A secure bicycle storage facility has also been launched.
