Village in mourning after sudden death of local businessman

The community of a Co Fermanagh village are in shock following the sudden death of a local businessman.

Seamus Gleeson passed away suddenly at his home in Donagh on Monday.

The 44-year-old was the owner of well-known firm Gleeson Contracts and was a keen supporter of local GAA club St Patrick’s.

The club paid tribute to Seamus, whose business had sponsored the club’s youth teams.

It said it would be cancelling a showing of a documentary to mark its 50th year anniversary as a mark of respect to Seamus.

In a Facebook post, the club said: “St Patrick's GFC Committee, players and members wish to offer their sincere condolences to the Gleeson family on the sudden passing of Seamus Gleeson. RIP.

“To Seamus’ wife Julie, father Jim, sisters Patricia, Bernie, Ailish and entire family circle our thoughts and prayers are with you at this devastating time.

“Through Gleeson Contracts, Seamus and his family were avid supporters of the Club through the years & current youth team sponsors. May Seamus RIP. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

“As a mark of respect our 50th Anniversary Documentary scheduled for this weekend is now postponed.”

Seamus is survived by his wife Julie, father Jim and three sisters Patricia, Bernie and Ailish.

His funeral service will take place at St. Patrick’s Church, Donagh at 11am on Saturday 20 November.
