Village Bakery boss vows firm will bounce back after fire rips through one of its bakeries

The boss of Village Bakery has vowed the company will come back stronger after fire ripped through one of its bakeries.

A blaze started at the Village Bakery site on Wrexham Industrial Estate this morning - with dozens of firefighters battling the blaze.

The fire is now largely under control but has left one of Village Bakery's four sites severely damaged.

It was described as "a very difficult day" in the firm's 85 year history.

But the company's 400 staff have been praised for rallying round to help rearrange production at their three other sites.

Managing Director Robin Jones said: “I would like to thank our staff for the brilliant way they have responded to the challenges posed by the fire which has severely damaged one of our bakeries in Wrexham.

“Everybody is pulling together to ensure we can rearrange our production at our three other bakeries in order to minimise disruption to our valued customers.

"This is a very difficult day in the history of the Village Bakery, but we will bounce back and be stronger than ever thanks to the fantastic team working here.”

The company supplies shops and supermarket chains across the country - including deals with Tesco and Marks & Spencer.
