Vile Tory troll shows no remorse after being suspended for sick Nicola Sturgeon miscarriage joke

A Tory office bearer who was suspended for making a sick joke about miscarriage has claimed she is now “more dangerous”.

Moray Conservative Association treasurer Jane Lax is being investigated by the party over the shameful original .

In one message, she joined in a conversation with a troll who had suggested the First Minister’s miscarriage was “fictional”.

Lax Tweeted: “Is that when she dropped a book?”, followed by three laughing emojis.

But rather than offer an apology, Lax has followed up by tweeting: “Problem for them though is, now not constrained by the party, I might become more dangerous for them.”

She also claimed her laughing emojis related to another social media post.

Lax said: “I was not laughing at a miscarriage and the three laughing emojis underneath related to a different post.”

Displaying a lack of contrition, she added: “We know what they’re capable of. Water off a duck’s back as they are not important to me.”

And in a reference to the First Minister, she added: “I didn’t watch her interview. No intention of doing so. I’m certainly taking no lessons from her.”

Sturgeon, who is married to SNP chief executive Peter Murrell and has no children, had a miscarriage at the age of 40 while deputy first minister in 2011.

She was in the early stages of pregnancy and preparing to share the news publicly.

Details of the tragic incident were published with her consent in a book by journalist Mandy Rhodes.

Sturgeon said she wanted to speak out to challenge assumptions about women who do not have children.

An SNP source said: “It’s clear Ms Lax shows no remorse for her vile remarks.

“Instead, she’s basking in notoriety.

“The Scottish Tories must confirm that they will make the outcome of their disciplinary procedure public.”

During a radio interview last week, Sturgeon said: “I’ve been contacted by women who have suffered miscarriages. These kind of comments also stir up hurtful and painful feelings in others.

The Conservatives could not be reached for comment last night but previously said Lax’s original comments were “completely unacceptable”.
