Dangerous domestic violence thug Jordan Cook chocked and punched his former partner before booting her in the face after she broke up with him.
The aggressive brute had been released on licence from an eight-year jail term for attacking another ex-partner with a pool cue, horse whip and a screwdriver, when he struck once more.
The latest victim had ended their relationship due to his excessive alcohol consumption but he did not take it well and continued to make attempts to rekindle the romance, reports Chronicle Live.
Newcastle Crown Court heard in November last year how Cook went to his former partner's home and began to verbally abuse her.
Lead prosecutor on the case, Penny Hall, said: "She called the police and he grabbed hold of her round her throat and wouldn't let go and held it tight and she went floppy as if she didn't have control of her body."
Three days later, she let him in again, hoping for an explanation for his previous behaviour.
But he demanded to see her phone and "seemed paranoid about people being in the house", the court heard.
A few days later, following a number of calls to her, he turned up again.
He again seemed paranoid and locked the door and windows and a conversation soon developed into an argument.
Miss Hall said: "He started speaking about a man who had previously seriously attacked her and he made comments about her mother, knowing she was deceased.
"They were in her bedroom and she was lying on the bed when he got on top of her, put his knees on her hands and began punching her to the face with both hands. She was unable to defend herself.
"She got him off then he stepped back and kicked her to the face."
The court heard Cook apologised and the victim pretended to need the toilet before fleeing her home to seek help.
He was arrested the same day and found to be in possession of a kitchen knife.
In a victim impact statement, the woman set out how he has ruined her life and led to her losing her former home and custody of her child, who was terrified Cook would come back.
She said: "This left me devastated and hurt, I can't believe someone I wanted to and tried to help has done this to me."
She said she has had to put up with his friends making comments that she got Cook locked up and has had anonymous phone calls from someone calling her abusive names.
After the attack, she had to move to a refuge with her four-year-old son then had to move into an unfurnished flat four days before Christmas.
She added: "My son kept asking why he did what he did.
"He told social services he was frightened of Jordan.
"After Jordan assaulted me I had a black eye and bruised lip and had to pick my son up wearing sunglasses."
The woman said she has been diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder and is taking medication.
She added: "My life has been completely ruined.
"My son has been taken from me because he kept saying he is terrified to come home in case Jordan is there.
"Jordan has ruined my life."
Cook, 32, of Bracknell Gardens, Chapel House, Newcastle, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and possessing a bladed article.
Judge Penny Moreland jailed him for four years, of which he must serve two-thirds in custody, with an additional four years on licence and imposed a restraining order.
The court heard Cook has 28 previous convictions, including for wounding with intent in 2016, in which he used a pool cue, horse whip and screwdriver on a woman in front of her two young children, with a seven-year-old trying to intervene.
The judge said he "poses a risk of serious harm to women you come into contact with in an intimate relationship".
Tony Cornberg, defending, said he had engaged with the drug and alcohol team in prison and added: "He wants to change the way he reacts in future when he gets out.
"He is thinking, perhaps for the first time, about others.
"He has shown some green shoots, albeit a little too late in life."
