Vile teen told his girlfriend to kill herself in horrific campaign of abuse

A teen brute subjected his young girlfriend to a relentless campaign of abuse which left her suicidal and self harming.

Jack McBride repeatedly told the teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, to “jump in front of a bus” and kill herself in an onslaught of disgusting messages which left her feeling so low she hurt herself on multiple occasions.

The sick 19-year-old even repeatedly threatened to end his own life in a twisted bid to prevent her from leaving the abusive relationship.

McBride appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court today where it was heard the pair were in a difficult “on/off” relationship.

Procurator fiscal depute Dana Barclay said the young girl revealed the relationship ended and started due to McBride’s abusive behaviour.

During the six months they were together, twisted McBride tormented her and subjected her to horrendous verbal abuse.

Ms Barclay said: “Throughout the course of the relationship, the accused sent abusive messages to her in various social media platforms calling her a ‘dirty slut’, a ‘posh c**t’, a ‘fat ride’ called her stupid.

“Due to this abuse, she often felt down about herself, leading her to be suicidal and self harming.

“The accused throughout the relationship repeatedly threatened to self harm in a controlling method to prevent her from leaving the relationship.”

The prosecutor added: “He told her to jump in front of a bus and told her to choke to death.

“This was particularly traumatic for her as she lost (a relative) due to choking some years prior.”

The court also heard that on February 20 last year, McBride became aggressive and shouted at the girl in front of friends at a party, calling her a “boot”.

This incident led to the girl self-harming again.

McBride pleaded guilty to engaging in an abusive course of conduct towards by repeatedly sending her offensive messages via social media, repeatedly stating that "you were going to kill yourself and repeatedly directing her to kill herself".

These offences took place at three addresses in Johnstone, Houston and Bridge of Weir.

He also admitted behaving aggressively, shouting, swearing and uttering offensive remarks to her at a property on Donaldfield Road in Bridge of Weir.

Sheriff Suhkwinder Gill told McBride - who has two other domestic abuse convictions - he would return to court on January 21 for sentencing.

She imposed a five-year Non-Harassment Order which prevents him from contacting his former girlfriend in any way.
