Vile predator who raped woman in Scots town caged for five years

A sick predator who raped a woman in a town in Fife has been caged for five years.

Daniel Ross has been jailed for five years following a trial at Edinburgh High Court on Thursday, July 22.

The 36-year-old pounced on the woman at an address in Glenrothes on Sunday February 24, 2019.

After the sentencing, police praised the victim for coming forward and reporting the horrific attack.

Officers added that they welcomed the conviction, hoping it gave the victim "some degree of closure".

Detective Sergeant Calum Lawrie of Fife’s Divisional Rape Investigation Unit said: “I would like to thank the victim who showed great courage in reporting this particularly distressing crime.

"We welcome this conviction of Ross and hope it provides some degree of closure for the victim.”
