Vile hoaxers claim Kevin Hart was killed in horror car crash in sick prank

The US comedian and actor had been a passenger in his 1970 vintage motor when the driver, Jared Black, lost control of the vehicle as it plummeted into a ditch.

40-year-old dad-of-three Kevin was reported as suffering 'major back injuries' but expected to make a full recovery.

However, a sick report wrongly claiming Hart died in the crash has been shared across social media in a bid to fool fans.

The rumour began to circulate on Sunday after an 'RIP Kevin Hart' Facebook page was set up and drew in one million 'likes'.

The ''about' section carried a false statement about the events of the Sunday's car smash.

It read: "At about 11 a.m. ET on Sunday (September 01, 2019), our beloved actor Kevin Hart passed away. Kevin Hart was born on July 6, 1979 in Philadelphia. He will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking this page."

The post prompted hundreds of fans to share in their grief by posting messages of support.

As the fake site began to take momentum with shares and likes, a representative for Kevin stepped in to rubbish the claims and confirm the Ride Along actor is very much alive.

Hitting out at false rumours, they said: "He joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. He's still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet."

Kevin was reported as undergoing surgery on Sunday night following a car smash that morning, according to US site TMZ.

The stand-up's wife of three years Eniko also spoke to reporters on Monday as she made her way to hospital to visit him.

She said: "He's great. He's going to be just fine."

Hart's co-stars including Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Bryan Cranston have been among the stars sending their support to the Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle actor.
