Vile dad and son high five after shooting hibernating bear and her newborn cubs

A vile father and son and have caught illegally shooting a hibernating black bear and her two newborn cubs in distressing footage.

The men were captured celebrating on a wildlife camera used by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game which had been hidden as part of a research study.

The clip, released by the Humane Society on Wednesday March 27, shows 41-year-old Andrew Renner and his son Owen Renner, 18, firing shots towards a bear den under a tree on Esther Island, Alaska, on April 14 last year.

They can be seen approaching the den with a rifle and a handgun before fatally shooting a sleeping mother bear and her two cubs.

The pair then drag the mother bear out and exchange high fives before taking photos with the dead animal.

The Renners butchered the mother bear and skinned the cubs while boasting: "You and me dont f**k around.

"We go where we want to kill s**t."

Two days later, they returned to the site to pick up the bullet shells and dispose the cub's bodies in a bid to cover the crime.

In January, the father Andrew Renner was sentenced to three months in jail and banned from hunting for 10 years after pleading guilty to various poaching charges.

He was also fined $9,000 (£6,890) and ordered that he must forfeit his boat, pickup, guns, iPhones and skis.

His son Owen received a 30-day suspended sentence and was required to perform community service, according to The New York Times.

His hunting licence will be suspended for two years.

Prosecutor Aaron Peterson said: "What they did in the case was shoot two newborn bear cubs who couldn't escape.

"They had no way of getting out of that den. They were completely at the mercy of the Renners."
