Burglars targeting elderly Mass-goers struck again on Sunday.
Thieves broke into the homes of two more pensioners in Killea, Co. Donegal. It is the fourth such raid in the past two weeks.
The culprits caused considerable damage when they ransacked the properties.
It comes just two weeks after pensioners’ homes were raided in Raphoe and St Johnston.
Money and jewellery were taken in those break-ins and the victims were horrified to see the state of their homes.
Councillor Paul Canning said: “You can’t get any lower than this. These poor people are simply going about their own business and going to Mass on a Sunday morning and this is what happens to them.
“It’s horrible to think they are being watched so when they leave their homes these people are breaking into their homes.
“The courts simply aren’t coming down strongly enough.”
Jacqueline Young, whose mother had jewellery and cash taken from her St Johnston home, said: “Probably the same scum who did the house in Raphoe while pensioners were at Mass and then mum’s house.”
