Viktor Hovland: What's In The Bag?
Norwegian superstar Viktor Hovland has won seven times on the PGA Tour and has quickly established himself as one of the world's best golfers. He entered the 2024 season as the world number four and had set his sights on climbing to the number one spot. A serious dip in form came as a surprise to us all, but he has returned to the PGA Tour winners circle in 2025, so let's take a look at the club he'll be using as he attempts to get there.
Driver
What Driver Does Viktor Hovland Use?

Hovland had used a Ping G425 LST driver with a Fujikura Speeder TR 661 TX shaft for seemingly forever. However, at the 2025 Masters, Hovland finally switched it out to the Ping G440 LST.
He plays the driver in a very low base loft of 7.5˚, albeit lofted back up to 8.9˚and it is fitted with an extremely stout Fujikura Ventus Black VeloCore+ 6TX shaft.
Fairways
What Fairway Woods does Viktor Hovland use?

While most of Hovland's clubs are Ping, he does carry a TaylorMade SIM Ti 15-degree 3 -wood fitted with a Fujikura Ventus Blue 7 X shaft. Again, this is a slightly older model but it's a club that we really liked during testing due to its fast face, high launch and stand-out looks and it was one of the best fairway woods released in recent times.
Irons
What irons does Viktor Hovland use?

Hovland often carries a Titleist U505 Utility iron to accompany a set of Ping i210's. They go from four-iron down to pitching wedge and have KBS Tour 120 X shafts. When playing in the wind Hovland actually does something quite neat with his i210's to get them to fly a little lower. He shortens all his clubs (aside from putter) by a quarter-of-an-inch, and the lofts strengthened by 0.5 degrees. The shortening of the clubs reduces spin, whilst the movement of the lofts increases ball speed - both combine to flight the ball lower.
The i210's are one of the best irons for low handicappers as they provide a nice blend of workability with forgiveness.
Wedges
What wedges does Viktor Hovland use?

He then has two Ping S159 wedges with 50 and 56 (bent to 55), plus a Glide 2.0 wedge at 60 degrees. In our testing, we felt that the Ping Glide 4.0 wedge looks exceptional, especially in the more traditional teardrop shape that is available in three of the four sole options.
Most impressive, however, was how easy it was to spin the golf ball. Even when hitting shots that came off a little hotter and lower than expected, the ball sat to attention quicker than most new wedges. Our tester described this as one of the best wedges for chipping he'd ever used.
Putter
What putter does Viktor Hovland use?

The Norwegian's flatstick of choice is the Ping PLD DS 72 . We reviewed this putter and gave it the full five stars, with our tester describing it as an excellent face balanced mallet that offers a good forgiveness and great feel from the milled forged steel head.
Speaking to Golf.com Hovland said of the putter; “I’ve gone through some counterbalance putters in the past that I played in school, so I really like that shape. When I decided to sign with Ping, I stayed in that same head style but made one adjustment. There’s a line on the putter, but we also put one on the [topline] as well so the two lines match up together at address. Other than that, it’s the same head shape because that’s what I’m comfortable with. The milled insert in that putter is something that I much prefer as well. Instead of the ball melting on the face, you can feel the ball a little bit and it improved my speed.”
Ball
What golf ball does Viktor Hovland use?

Hovland uses the Titleist Pro V1 golf ball which as every golfer knows is one of the best premium golf balls ever made.
Hovland told Titleist; “I’ve really liked it at tournaments just when I’ve been chipping around greens. I feel like I’m still able to launch the ball up in the air a little bit while getting that spin. And so then I was entering the testing process with the mindset of, ‘OK, I like it around the greens. Let’s see how it performs with irons and the driver.’ And for me, it didn’t do that much differently (than prior generation), which is a good thing because I liked where the spins were at, the launch angles, and the overall feel of it. So if it’s very, very similar with all those shots, but I feel like it performs better around the greens, I felt like it was a good decision just to start playing it."
What shoes does Viktor Hovland wear?
Hovland has an apparel deal with J. Lindeberg and is known as one of the funkiest dressers on tour. His golf shoe of choice is the Puma Ignite Articulate, which we tested and loved due to excellent traction and all-round support provided as well as the sharp looks.
