Viktor Hovland is in contention at the 2021 PGA Championship as — ahem — some of us thought he might.
It was during his opening round 69 that gave him a share of the lead Thursday afternoon before some golfers had teed off that he had a delightful moment.
First, he had a fun exchange with his caddie on No. 4 as he needed to dig his feet in on the tip of the sand for a shot, asking, “What’s the cover on the crap here?” and saying “I kinda wanna try this” before taking his shot.
Then? He decided to rake the sand like a casual golfer and not one of the world’s best pros.
