Vikrant Massey announces retirement from acting: '2025, we would meet each other for one last time'

Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey's latest Instagram post has sparked speculation that the actor has announced his retirement from acting.

The star, whose film 'The Sabarmati Report' is running at the box office, took to his Insstagram handle on Monday morning to share a post that detailed his decision to seemingly 'move forward' from his acting career. Massey, reflected on his journey with gratitude, writing, "The last few years and beyond have been phenomenal. I thank each and every one of you for your indelible support."

In the emotional post, he revealed his plans to step away from the limelight, saying, "As I move forward, I realise it's time to recalibrate and go back home. As a Husband, Father, and Son. And also as an Actor."

The actor, known for his versatility and sincerity in roles, shared that 2025 would mark his final chapter in cinema for the foreseeable future. "Coming 2025, we would meet each other for one last time. Until time deems right," he penned.

Massey concluded his note with a heartfelt message to his supporters: "Last 2 movies and many years of memories. Thank you again. For everything and everything in between."

The post was shared online with a simple joined hands and heart emoticons.

Fans took to the comments section to ask, "What!? Does this mean..."

Another wrote, "Plz don't stop working.! We love to watch u on screen... U r a super actor."

Another penned an encouraging message that read, "Go ahead. Fill your cup then be back."

Still another wrote, "Wishing you all the very best... you are a Gem actor. Stay safe and stay happy. We will miss you. Hope to see you back."

Vikrant Massey began his career in the television industry with the show Dhoom Machao Dhoom, gaining widespread recognition with his role in Balika Vadhu in 2009.He later made his mark in Bollywood with memorable performances in films like Lootera and achieved critical acclaim with his first lead role in A Death in the Gunj (2017).

Since his breakout roles in television, Massey transitioned seamlessly into films, earning critical acclaim for movies like 'Chhapaak', 'Haseen Dillruba', '12th Fail' among many others.

Just last week, Vikrant Massey, bagged the Personality of the Year award at the 55th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). On receiving the honour, he discussed his approach to choosing projects, expressing his preference for "entertainment and inspiring cinema."

Speaking to the media at the closing ceremony Massey said, "I always try to work responsibly. Whether it is 12th Fail, Sector 36, or The Sabarmati Report, there is always an effort to entertain people while also being part of responsible cinema."

Commenting on the current filmmaking landscape and audience responses, he added, "I am interested in doing entertainment and inspiring cinema. Even today, cinema remains a highly influential medium. Many in society draw inspiration from it. In India, we produce about 1,800 to 2,000 films annually, encompassing all genres. While all kinds of films should be made, responsible cinema is thriving, and audiences are appreciating it."

Although Vikrant has announced his decision to step away from acting, fans can still look forward to his upcoming projects, slated for release in 2025.
