Vikings’ Xavier Rhodes fined $21,056 for horse-collar tackle vs. Giants

Minnesota Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes has been fined $21,056 for an infraction against the New York Giants during a Week 5 game in which the Vikes won, 28-10.

Rhodes was penalized 15 yards following a horse-collar tackle on Giants wide receiver Darius Slayton, which came on the heels of a 12-yard first down in the third quarter.

Rhodes was also penalized for pass interference later in the game when he got tangled up with veteran wide receiver Golden Tate going into the end zone, although that penalty was fine-free.

This isn’t the first time Rhodes has been fined by the NFL, receiving earlier fines for taunting Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans, kicking a penalty flag, a horse-collar tackle against the Denver Broncos in 2015 and more.

Incidentally, Rhodes also has a history with the Giants, getting into it with Odell Beckham Jr. in 2016, leading to a $24,000 fine for the then-Giants receiver. However, despite two seemingly intentional late hits against OBJ, Rhodes was not subjected to a fine from that game.
