Vikings WR Jeff Badet still waiting for money from ’40 Yards of Gold’

Vikings wide receiver Jeff Badet was one of the players who participated in the “40 Yards of Gold” pay-per-view event last month.

While Badet did not win, he was supposed to be paid $25,000 for participating in what was billed as a tournament to crown the fastest man in the 40-yard dash.

As of two days ago, Badet hasn’t received the money.

“The contract was explicitly clear,” Badet’s agent Will Sarubbi said Friday via SportsBusiness Daily. “Jeff was an independent contractor who was promised $25,000 upon arrival, before the event on June 29. That has not been paid as of 5 p.m. today. It does not look likely it will be, based on the correspondence we have had.”

I guess this doesn’t exactly come as a surprise.

That type of money is significant, especially for a fringe-roster player like Badet. Badet, 24, signed a two-year, $1.15 million deal prior to the season, but only $150,000 of that was guaranteed, per Spotrac.
