Vikings waive RB Roc Thomas, sign G Tiano Pupungatoa

About a week after being suspended for the first three games of the 2019 NFL season, the Vikings have waived running back Roc Thomas.

Thomas was arrested this offseason for felony drug possession, so this move isn’t exactly a surprise.

Thomas appeared in five games for the Vikings last season and ran eight times for 30 yards.

The Vikings now have Dalvin Cook, Ameer Abdullah, Mike Boone, Alexander Mattison, C.J. Ham and Khari Blasingame on the roster as running backs or full backs.

Filling Thomas’ roster spot will be guard Tiano Pupungatoa.

Pupungatoa spent time with the Vikings in rookie mini camp earlier this offseason.

He played his college ball at South Dakota State and was named an Associated Press Third-Team All-American in his senior season.

The more help on the offensive line, the better. Even if Pupungatoa doesn’t make the team, it’s still depth for the grueling days of training camp.
