Vikings to host Matt Ryan and Falcons in season opener

The NFL released the 2019 schedule on Wednesday for all teams.

You can check out the Vikings’ schedule here.

The Vikings will open the season at home on Sunday, Sept. 8 at noon against the Atlanta Falcons. The game will air on FOX.

It’s a fun Week 1 matchup against a team in a similar position as the Vikings.

The Vikings are coming off an 8-7-1 season, while the Falcons are coming off a 7-9, both second in their respective divisions and not good enough for a playoff appearance.

Disappointments are what these teams were last season. But 2019 is a new year, baby! Anything can happen!

The Vikings are 19-11 all time against the Falcons and have won the last three game, the last coming on Dec. 3, 2017 at Mercedes Benz Stadium. Minnesota won 14-9 and limited Matt Ryan to just 173 passing yards.

Obviously these teams have changed since then considering Case Keenum was Minnesota’s quarterback for that game.

It will be a big test for the Vikings defense is they’ll try to shut down Julio Jones, who might be the best receiver in the league.

It’s also a game that certainly could mean something as far as tiebreakers go down the stretch.
