Vikings to host former Jaguars center Tyler Shatley

The quest to improve the Vikings offensive line continues.

The Vikings have already added guard Josh Kline in free agency. Kline is expected to be the team’s starting right guard.

Up next could be center Tyler Shatley. Per multiple reports, first by Tom Pelissero, Shatley is in Minnesota Friday for a visit.

Who is Tyler Shatley, you ask?

Shatley, 27, has spent his entire five-year career with the Jaguars. He’s started 15 games over the last three seasons, including seven last season.

If the Vikings sign Shatley, we could see the Vikings shift Pat Elflein to guard. Or, Shatley could become a rotational player depending on what the Vikings decide to do in the NFL Draft.

Most Vikings fans, even with signing Shatley, would urge the team to draft an offensive lineman in the first round. But with Rick Spielman adding some pieces, the Vikings can be flexible in their first-round approach.
