Vikings think there’s plenty of ‘upside’ with QB Jake Browning

The Vikings are set at quarterback in 2019 with Kirk Cousins under center.

Many thought the Vikings would draft a quarterback, perhaps as a project for the future. Instead, they signed Jake Browning as an undrafted free agent.

Browning is a dual-threat quarterback who has won 39 out of 53 games at Washington.

“The guy won a lot of games, he’s a very good athlete,” Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Friday. “We felt like he’s got a lot of upside to work with, a lot of tools. But we thought he was a good athlete and he won a lot of games, so that was important to us.”

More than likely, we’ll see Browning spend time on the team’s practice squad throughout the 2019 season while Kyle Sloter and Sean Mannion fight for the backup spot to Cousins.

Let’s not forget before the 2018 season, Browning was considered a potential first-round pick.

There is plenty of talent that could be untapped.
