The Vikings took North Carolina State's Garrett Bradbury with the No. 18 pick in the NFL draft on Thursday night.
The 6-foot-3, 305-pound center was an All-America last season and won the Rimington Trophy as the nation's outstanding center.
At the NFL combine he ran the third fastest 40-yard dash (4.92 seconds) among offensive linemen.
Bradbury, who will be 24 on June 20, is a Charlotte, N.C., native who came to the Wolfpack as a tight end. He redshirted as a freshman and moved to guard in 2015, when he was a backup. He started 13 games at left guard as a redshirt sophomore before moving to starting center as a redshirt junior in 2017.
Scouting reports say he is slightly undersized for a center.
The Vikings are likely to move starting center Pat Elflein to a guard spot to make room for Bradbury.
The Vikings signed Josh Kline, who is the only guard on their roster other than reserve Danny Isadora. Riley Reiff and Brian O'Neill are the projected starting tackles.
The last interior lineman the Vikings chose in the first round of the draft was Randall McDaniel in 1988.
