Vikings take Iowa TE T.J. Hockenson in mock draft

With a lot of the big free-agent signings in the books, we have a better idea of team needs heading into the 2019 NFL Draft.

In Charles Davis’ recent mock draft at NFL.com, he has the Minnesota Vikings going with tight end rather than offensive line.

Davis has the Vikings selecting Iowa tight end T.J. Hockenson with their first-round pick, 18th overall.

Here’s what Davis wrote about the pick:

The OL will get a long look, but Hockenson is a tremendous blocker who will help the run game get untracked — and he’s an excellent receiver, as well.

With Kyle Rudolph closer to the end than the beginning, this does make some sense. Hockenson finished with 49 catches for 760 yards and six touchdowns with Iowa last season.

With that being said, most fans would be disappointed if the Vikings don’t take an offensive lineman in the first round, especially after losing Nick Easton to the Saints.
