Vikings take DT Jordan Elliott in 1st round of PFF mock draft

The Vikings have the 25th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Mike Renner over at Pro Football Focus put together his first mock draft.

With that pick, Renner has the Vikings selecting Missouri defensive tackle Jordan Elliott.

Here’s what Renner wrote about the pick:

Minnesota treated its 3-tech position as an afterthought this season, and it eventually burned them as they were gashed by the 49ers’ ground attack in the playoffs. Elliott is an easy fit there, as he earned 90-plus grades in run defense and as a pass-rusher en route to the highest grade of any interior defender in college football.

Elliott finished the 2019 season with 44 tackles, 8.5 for a loss, and 2.5 sacks.

The Vikings aren’t getting any younger on the interior of their offensive line.

Linval Joseph is 31 and is under contract for a whopping $11.6 million next season (the Vikings could cut ties for just $2.4 million). Shamar Stephen meanwhile is 28 and had a disappointing 2019 season. He’s under contract for $3.7 million next season but the Vikings could cut ties for $2.6 million.

The Vikings ranked 13th against the rush last season, which was actually an improvement of two spots from the previous season.
