Vikings T Brian O’Neill could be huge part of offensive line turnaround

There’s been a lot of talk on what rookie center Garrett Bradbury can bring to the Vikings offensive line.

But don’t sleep on someone who already has a season under his belt.

Last year’s second-round pick Brian O’Neill started 11 games at tackle for the Vikings and played better than many expected.

O’Neill appears on track, at least through a week of training camp practices, to have a strong sophomore season as well.

“I think for our offensive line, the number one thing that we’re looking for is physicality,” Vikings offensive coordinator Kevin Stefanski said Monday. “Brian brings that. He also brings great athleticism to that position. He has showed up in great shape, he’s running around. It was great to be in pads yesterday, he was hustling down the field and that’s just a big man running who’s got the athleticism being a former tight end. I think he showed up to camp in great shape and I’m really looking forward

O’Neill will likely start at right tackle in 2019, and is a huge part of this unit. If O’Neill can improve on his strong first season, the Vikings will be in a much better place than a year ago when you consider the upgrades of Bradbury at center, and Josh Kline and Pat Elflein at guards.
