Vikings’ Stefon Diggs traveled with team, expected to play vs. Giants

Prior to the Minnesota Vikings taking off to New Jersey where they’ll meet the New York Giants on Sunday afternoon, head coach Mike Zimmer was noncommittal when asked if disgruntled wide receiver Stefon Diggs would travel with the team or see action in Week 5.

“I don’t know. We’ll see,” Zimmer told reporters. “I’ll have to watch the tape.”

Throughout the season, an increasingly negative situation has unfolded between Diggs and the Vikings with the star receiver all but confirming earlier this week that he wants to be traded.

“I feel like there’s truth to all rumors, regardless of what it is — good or bad,” Diggs said, per The Athletic. “I can’t say what’s real and what’s not.”

Despite those issues and the all-around level of uncertainty, Diggs boarded a plane with his teammates on Saturday and took off en route to East Rutherford.

After being targeted 149 times a season ago, Diggs has been targeted just 19 times this season, hauling in 13 receptions for 209 yards and one touchdown as the offense commits itself more to Dalvin Cook and the running game.

Diggs isn’t the only skill position player who has grown frustrated with the team’s offensive woes as fellow wide receiver Adam Thielen also vented his frustrations this past week.

If the Giants defense can somehow stymie Minnesota’s passing offense, it’s entirely possible we witness a completely on-field meltdown from Diggs.
