Bleacher Report went an unconventional route in a recent mock draft.
The outlet allowed users to vote for players on the B/R app. The fan draft went in the order of this year’s NFL Draft, with Vikings fans having a chance to take players with the 22nd and 25th overall picks.
The Minnesota fans didn’t get too crazy with the picks, going for players who fulfill positional needs. Minnesota chose TCU cornerback Jeff Gladney at 22, and then followed that up with USC tackle Austin Jackson at 25.
I think the fans voted on two good choices. Gladney and Jackson could come in and start right away. I also think it’s advantageous to try and take a cornerback and a tackle in the first round.
There’s always the concern about waiting too long to take a wide receiver, with Stefon Diggs leaving in the offseason via trade, but it’s a deep wide receiver class, so taking one in the second round could work.
