Vikings select tackle Will Hernandez in 2018 draft do-over

With draft season quickly approaching, the folks at NFL.com are taking a look back to the 2018 NFL Draft and what teams would do differently with a re-draft.

With the 30th pick, Adam Rank has the Vikings taking tackle Will Hernandez instead of cornerback Mike Hughes.

Here’s what Rank wrote about the pick:

All right, Vikings, what good is it to give your quarterback all of that guaranteed money if you’re not going to protect him? Hernandez was the guy I was screaming for them to take last year.

Hernandez was selected by the Giants four picks later and started all 16 games.

Hughes played in just six games before tearing his ACL.

While the Vikings certainly could use some help on the offensive line, it’s still pretty premature to judge Hughes. He showed flashes last season.

With all things considered, though, Vikings fans are hoping the team addresses the offensive line in the draft later this month.
