Vikings select Pittsburgh tackle Brian O'Neill in second round

Rick Spielman didn't wait much longer to address the Vikings offensive line.

The Vikings drafted tackle Brian O'Neill out of Pittsburgh with the 62nd overall pick on Friday. The second-round selection marks the first time Minnesota has taken a Day 1 or Day 2 offensive lineman in back-to-back drafts since Spielman joined the front office in 2007.

O'Neill is massive, checking in at 6-7 and 297 pounds during the NFL scouting combine. He played both left tackle and right tackle at Pittsburgh.

The selection of O'Neill likely means the Vikings could keep Mike Remmers at right guard moving forward. Remmers, who signed as the right tackle in 2017 free agency, started three games at guard to end last season.

NFL general managers have been trade crazy this year. Seven deals were done during Friday's second round alone, but Spielman has yet to move the Vikings.

Around the NFC North, the Chicago Bears traded back into the second round with the Patriots for receiver Anthony Miller (Memphis). The Bears took center James Daniels (Iowa) with their original second-round pick.

The Packers continued to stock up on cornerbacks, adding Josh Jackson (Iowa) to pair with first-round pick Jaire Alexander (Louisville). The Lions kept adding offense with second-round pick Kerryon Johnson, a running back. The Vikings have one more pick scheduled Friday, at No. 94.
