Sunday’s playoff games were very good ones, much like the two from Saturday. Both were one-score games and one went into overtime. Both road teams won.
In the early game, the Minnesota Vikings defeated the New Orleans Saints 26-20 in overtime.
The Vikings had a 20-10 lead that they gave up in the fourth quarter. Drew Brees had a touchdown pass and Wil Lutz hit a field goal with under two minutes left in regulation to tie the game. However, the Saints’ season came to abrupt end in overtime as Kirk Cousins hit Adam Thielen on a 43- yard pass down to the two-yard line. On third-and-goal, Kyle Rudolph hauled in a four-yard touchdown catch to win it, although many feel he pushed off and there should have been pass interference called on him. It was ruled that no official review was needed and the Saints were eliminated.
In the late game, the Seahawks took advantage of the Eagles losing starting quarterback Carson Wentz to a hand injury and defeated them 17-9. Seattle held the Eagles to under 300 yards of total offense and had seven sacks.
Now the divisional round is set. The Vikings will take on the San Francisco 49ers and the Seahawks will take on the Green Bay Packers in the NFC. Because of Saturday’s results, we already knew the AFC games are Titans-Ravens and Texans-Chiefs.
