Vikings’ salary cap space before the NFL trade deadline

The Vikings have had little salary cap space during much the 2020 NFL season.

Minnesota made a trade to bring Yannick Ngakoue from the Jaguars to the Vikings. That brought the team incredibly close to having no cap space. But then, the Vikings sent Ngakoue off to the Ravens.

The team getting rid of Ngakoue is disappointing for Vikings fans, because it heavily implies that this isn’t going to be a successful season. However, there is a silver lining to getting rid of Ngakoue: the team has more salary cap space now.

According to Over The Cap, Minnesota has $5.1 million in 2020 salary cap space. That won’t help the team sign any big-time free agents, but it does make the logistics of making a trade at the deadline a little easier, if the Vikings want to keep making moves.
