Vikings S Jayron Kearse apologizes for arrest over weekend

Vikings safety Jayron Kearse was arrested early Sunday morning on suspicion of DWI and having a firearm without a license.

The Vikings played on Thursday and had Sunday off.

Kearse was back at practice on Monday and gave what seemed like a heartfelt apology.

“First and foremost, I would like to apologize to the team, to the fans, for actions over this past weekend,” Kearse said via the Pioneer Press. “It’s not a reflection of who I am as a person or what this organization stands for. The team and these fans deserve better. I definitely take this matter seriously and I’m sorry for putting anybody in harm’s way, and I will go through all the necessary steps to improve myself.”

As a result of the arrest, Kearse is subject to discipline from the league under the personal conduct policy.

Kearse is a 2016 seventh-round pick out of Clemson. He’s in the final year of his rookie contract. He’s played in all eight games this season, starting two.
